MOHE/MQA Approvals & Accreditation

UTAR is pleased to announce that all its programmes are approved by the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE). Programmes are due for accreditation when the first cohort of students of each programme reaches its final trimester. Most of UTAR's programmes have received full accreditation. For the rest of the programmes, when the time for the programme's accreditation arrives, UTAR is confident that the accreditation process will proceed just as smoothly and successfully as the other accredited programmes.

What does this mean?

Approval by MOHE and MQA Provisional Accreditation

All of UTAR's programmes are approved by MOHE before it is being conducted. This is a requirement under the Private Higher Educational Institutions (Conducting Course of Study) Regulations 1997.  All of UTAR's programmes are also granted MQA Provisional Accreditation when it is conducted. Having Provisional Accreditation means that the programme has met the minimum MQA requirements to start conducting the programme.

MQA Full Accreditation/MQR/JPA Recognition:

A Programmes is due for accreditation when the first cohort of students of the programme reaches its final trimester. This is when the accreditation panel of assessors assess the implementation of the programme and its compliance to MQA accreditation requirements. When a programme is fully accredited, it is recognised by MQA, the programme would be registered under the Malaysian Qualifications Register (MQR). All programmes under the MQR are recognised by the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE), MQA and JPA. In addition, graduates with MQA recognised degrees can continue with their post-graduate studies in the IPTAs if they so choose to.

For further details concerning MQA Provisional Accreditation and Full Accreditation, please visit MQA and MQR website, http://www.mqa.gov.my/ and https://www2.mqa.gov.my/mqr/

Self Accreditation Status

MQA Full Accreditation/MQR/JPA Recognition:

UTAR has been awarded Self Accreditation Status by MQA effective from 21 February 2017. This status allows UTAR to carry out self accreditation procedures for non-professional programme according to MQA’s accreditation requirements. Upon completion of the self accreditation procedures, UTAR submits the accreditation results to MQA for MQA Provisional Accreditation (PA) listing and MQR registration.
